NEW REGULATIONS AND LEGISLATION

The Employment Equity Amendment Act: This act amends the Employment Equity Act of 1998 to include new provisions on affirmative action and employment equity. Solidarity reached a settlement to scrap a lot of the changes see article below.


The National Health Insurance Bill: This bill proposes the creation of a national health insurance system in South Africa. The bill proposes to provide universal health coverage for all South Africans.


The Tobacco and Electronic Delivery Systems Bill: This bill proposes the regulation of tobacco and electronic delivery systems in South Africa. The bill would ban the sale of cigarettes to minors and would introduce new packaging requirements for tobacco products.


The Financial Sector Regulation Amendment Bill: This bill amends the Financial Sector Regulation Act of 2017 to include new provisions on financial inclusion and consumer protection. The act also sets out new requirements for financial institutions to comply with. See article below.


The Data Protection Bill: This bill proposes the creation of a data protection framework in South Africa. The bill would give individuals more control over their personal data and would create new obligations for businesses that collect and use personal data. See article below.

The Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA): This act was enacted in 2001 and is designed to prevent and combat money laundering and terrorist financing. FICA applies to a wide range of businesses and individuals, including financial institutions, lawyers, accountants, and real estate agents. See article below.


The latest on the B-BBEE Transport sector code is that it is currently under review. The review is being conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and is expected to be completed in 2023.
