SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Skills Development Act and the different government initiatives are striving to create a South Africa that can provide more opportunities for our youth, through education.

Currently, around 60 million youth aged between 18 and 34 remain unemployed.

Initiatives to turn around South Africa’s skill deficit and ultimately benefit the South African economy by generating more employable youth and opportunities for self-employment are crated through learnerships.

Learnerships raise the skills base in the various economic sectors and create opportunities for both employed and unemployed youth. Yet many employers ignore this opportunity despite the incentives available.

A strategic partner for skills development gives you the peace-of-mind knowing your learners are trained by Accredited Training Providers and given the opportunity to receive on or off-site workplace experience. The workplace experience is critical as a learnership consists of 30% theoretical and 70% workplace experience. This combination ensures that the learners become more knowledgeable and more accomplished in a specific area of business.   The South Africa economy benefit from enhanced expertise and skills.

Companies are incentivized to implement learnerships to increase their Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) scorecard, and sometimes losing sight of the positive impact that education has on the workforce, the business and the country.

The amended codes also place more emphasis on Bursaries.
