Socio-Economic Development (SED) consists of monetary and non-monetary contributions, initiated an implemented in favor of the beneficiaries by the measured entity with the specific objective of facilitating sustainable access to the economy for targeted beneficiaries.
There are extra points available if 30% of the Socio-Economic Development (SED) spend being on “Communities with Limited Service”

The definition of Communities with Limited Services is as follows:


Communities with Limited Services:

From the latest Stats SA census results filtered to local municipality level determine the following:
a - Do less than 65% of the households have access to piped water
      or
b - Do less than 85% of the households have access to electricity
c - In addition to a or b, do more than 50% of the households have an average household income in the first 5 levels (including none) of the income data table

Please filter down to the local municipality, where the beneficiary municipality is located.

A beneficiary only has to meet one of the criteria provided on the website for each local municipality:
-    Piped water inside dwelling
-    Electricity for lighting

In addition to (a) and (b) do more than 50% of the household have an average household income in the first 5 levels (including none) of the income data table

The required information is under the Economy tab of each municipality. The sum total of the first 5 x levels of income should be more than 50% of income data table, to be a qualifying beneficiary.
